  • Responsible for developing Japanese consumer / hair dresser understanding through qualitative and quantitative researches such as interviews, WOM analysis and other methodologies and develop technical insights based on the research outcomes to support new hair products (hair care, color, perm and styling) development
  • The technical insight to be utilized for example, for new technology development, in salon service development and consumer / hair dresser relevant claim development and new device development
  • Develop clear research objectives, execute and follow through for building consumer understanding. Involve research agencies when needed but be responsible to make sure they come up with best possible proposals
  • Responsible for developing and validating the hair products claim support methodologies which mainly focus on “biophysical” measurements such as hair surface friction measurement, shine measurement etc.. but also responsible for qualitative visualization methodologies such as SEM/TEM
  • Work closely with R&D team members and marketing department to best utilize the research outcomes and developed methodologies for new product/service launches
  • Team management and talent development 
  • Lead dialogues with key internal and external stakeholders to execute above mentioned tasks


  • 10+ year (at least 5+ years) of working experience in personal or beauty care product consumer understanding with at least 3 years in team leadership role
  • Consumer research / Biophysical measurement relevant education background e.g., , Phycology, Ethnography, Material science, Engineering design, etc. with at least B.S. degree
  • Good writing and speaking skill in English
  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills
  • Fundamental understanding of cosmetic and quasi drug regulatory affairs in Japan
  • Working experience in hair related product development
  • English skill certificate(CEFR B1 or above)
